1 Information We Collect

When you create an account and use Scoopd, we collect:

• Account information — your email address, username, and display name, provided at sign-up.
• Profile information — an optional profile photo and bio that you choose to add.
• Check-in data — the flavors you check in, ratings, notes, and photos you attach.
• Location — your approximate location when you use the map or check in at a store. Only accessed while the app is in use, only when you grant permission.
• Friends and social data — friend connections you make and friends you tag in check-ins.
• Usage data — basic app usage information to help us improve the experience.

2 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Scoopd app and its features
• Display your check-ins, profile, and lists to you and, where applicable, your friends
• Show nearby ice cream shops on the map
• Send notifications about friend requests and tags (if you enable them)
• Improve the app based on how it is used
• Respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3 Information Shared With Others

Scoopd is a social app. By default, your profile and check-ins are public and visible to other Scoopd users. You can make your profile private in your account settings at any time.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4 Third-Party Services

Scoopd uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — our backend database, authentication, and file storage provider. Your account data, check-ins, and photos are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy ↗
• Google Maps and Google Places — used to display maps and search for store locations. Location data may be sent to Google when you use map or store search features. Google Privacy Policy ↗

5 Photos and Media

Photos you attach to check-ins are uploaded to secure cloud storage and displayed within the app. Your device's photo library is only accessed when you choose to add a photo — we do not access or scan it in the background.

If you delete a check-in, its associated photos are also deleted from our servers.

6 Location Data

Scoopd requests access to your location while the app is in use to show nearby stores on the map and to optionally attach a location to your check-ins. We do not track your location in the background. You can revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings.

7 Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, check-ins, photos, and friend connections are permanently deleted from our systems.

8 Children's Privacy

Scoopd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9 Your Rights

You can:

• Update or delete your profile information at any time within the app
• Delete individual check-ins and photos from within the app
• Request deletion of your entire account and all associated data by contacting us
• Revoke location or photo library permissions at any time in your device's Settings

10 Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit and row-level security policies on our database so users can only access their own data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11 Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Scoopd after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
